Up-date on Neighbourhood Watch insurance

We are pleased to learn that the Home Office, upon parliamentary approval, has confirmed that they will be funding our almost free Public Liability Insurance. Of course we’ll be responsible for the first £100 of every claim. Neighbourhood Watch volunteers are covered by the Home Office Liability insurance whilst they carry out their voluntary duty. We expect that each volunteer covers the first £100 of a claim they wish to make. Any individuals that cause damage to property we use whilst conducting our ‘business’ will be made responsible for the first £100 of a claim that property owner will make against us.  So if you come to a meeting and smash up a chair, you’ll have to pay for that, guaranteed. I cannot emphasize enough that Neighbourhood Watches are not part of the local council’s or housing provider’s schemes, we are directly under the Home Office.
