Our local Safer neighbourhood Team PCSO held a cycle marker session at St. Elizabeth School recently when he marked 14 bicycles with a special pen and registered them. The marking can be seen under ultra-violet light. Our SNT officers said they routinely check bicycles for markings. Residents have complained that cycles have been stolen from the north end of Sewardstone Road, when cycles disappeared from the area between the canal and the blocks of flats.
I asked whether we ould have another marking session during our Neighbourhood Watch AGM on 25 Jan 2011, that is to be confirmed.
Anyone can buy an invisible marker pen, mark their cycle with postcode and flat/house number and then register their item on the website, immobilise.com . You can register all your valuables. I would recommend that you repeat the marking of your bike as this will wear off in time.
You can purchase the Crimestoppers Property Protector and if you use the discount code STAMP save £10 off the normal purchase price.
