The price of snow

Just heard from my daughter in Scotland that they had 4 feet of snow last week. Temperatures fell to -14, but the water didn’t freeze.  The pavements are so bad, she cannot even make it to the shop. There is a shortage of grit, care takers do not grit the estates or pavements. Bread is rationed to 3 loaves per person and the loaf costs £2.50 each. There is panic buying. We have it relatively good here in London.  But whilst we all hope for snow and it looks good on TV, when it  falls heavily, we all wish it wouldn’t.  There is no hope for the weather to get better up in Scotland.
